I am just like other ordinary Singaporeans who find travelling to school loathsome and insipid. Not to mention the stress and pressure u have to face in our studies, there i salso tremendous stress in our CCA activities.SYF competitions and speechdays performance.Perhaps,we have been spoilt as most of us were born in the post-60s period;in other words;we have not experienced any hardship or turbulent events which our parents had faced.

Meritocracy
On yesterday's edition of The Sunday Times,I came across an article regarding top O Level scorers opting for the poly route, which has become increasingly common. Many, particularly those average scorers, are displeased as they feel that those eligible fr JC are dimminishing their chances of getting a place in poly.

To me,however,I feel that it is unfair to criticise those who have performed exceptionally well in their examinations.Since students have covered topic particularly meritocracy in Social Studies, they should know better than anyone that the world is getting competitive due to globalisation. The message is;pull up your socks or be left behind in the race.

Many developing countries are eager to challenge Singapore's airhub position.Dubai,in particular,a fast-developing nation, which is constantly under the limelight,is gearing up for further development. If all regional players are now preaparing to brace themselves for greater challenge in the future than why is it that those average students are impervious to this reality;which is,the world would never be the same again. The world would never remain status quo.Instead,it is now becoming more fluid than ever.We must buck up or else we would lose out.
