Education
Recently, through forums in Straits Times,I realised that there have been grumblings about problems faced by A Level applicants getting into local universities.Parents write in to voice out their views on entry to universities. Some of them feel that the admission to universities for foreigners ,10% poly graduate as well as 10 % discretionary admission have deprived the chances of A Level applicants, who obtained good grades, but were not offered any course of their choice through the application process.
Some of the A Level applicants who obtained good grades,at the same time, were offered the course to do in one of the universities, albeit the course is not the course of their choice.I would say that they should be delighted that they have been offered a course to do in the university as I have heard reports of average scorers not able to get into the university. The competition is getting tougher. All this tells us that passing the exams alone is not enough;what matters most;is none other than getting optimal results.

My Quiz results in poly
Despite my effort in all my subjects,I just managed to get marginal pass in al my subjects.I tried in vain to get optimal results, however,my results proved otherwise. Finally,I realised that polytechnic is not an easy route either.
Well, perhaps,it might be premature to conclude that hardwork does not pay off.At this point in time, however,I feel that I could stop dreaming about getting As in all my science subjects, particularly,Biochemistry and HAP.
Learning is an arduous journey,in which, everyone has to go through it.What I know is I am still grappling with what I want to be in the future.

Studies
Oh my godness!!!! I have so many things to memorise for all my four science subjects.Biochemistry,HAP(Human Anatomy &Physiology),Organic Chemistry,Inorganic Chemistry .
Simple squamous epithelium cells to myosin myofliament and resting membrane potentials. Finally,DNA structure and many other things which I have to memorise.Ultimately,I really regret taking Biomedical Science.
3 years later, upon graduation,I really don't know what I want to be then.An assiatant pharmacist or lab assistant? All I am sure is I want to further my studies.

School Starts
All I hope is to excel in all quiz, class test, and semestral examinations.Hopefully,by year-end of 2008 I would accumulate my GPA to ,at least,a GPA of 3.8,which allows me to stand a higher chance in securing a place in one of the universities in Singapore.

School Starts
Finally!! School is going to commence on 24 Apr.Well,I have waited for this day for more than a month.Maths, undoubtedly,is the subject I dread most. For years, this subject has instilled fear in me.
Well,I love science-related subjects, but certainly,I am not sure whether I would be able to cope with all these subjects.Such as ,Physical and Inorganic Chemistry. For godness sake,I have never heard of such subject before in my life. Finally,Biochemistry?;is it something to do with Biology plus Chemistry?
Interestingly, there would be no lab during first week.Hopefully,i hope i would to score distinctions for all my subjects.

Is It My Retribution?
I wonder why for more than 2 months since the release of GCE "O' Levels I keep questioning myself on why I failed my EL.Since Secondary 3,or rather,I should say that since Secondary 1 I have not failed English.I keep dwelling on this and not being able to face the fact.
I was shocked and could not accept this.Perhaps, this is my retribution. All my appeals,be it on EL results, special admission to Accountancy course, direct admission and to tpjc(since i was there for first 3 months),all turned out unsuccessful.
"No harm trying",I kept telling myself this to persist on.Even praying to my god, hoping my calls could be answered.

Meritocracy
On yesterday's edition of The Sunday Times,I came across an article regarding top O Level scorers opting for the poly route, which has become increasingly common. Many, particularly those average scorers, are displeased as they feel that those eligible fr JC are dimminishing their chances of getting a place in poly.
To me,however,I feel that it is unfair to criticise those who have performed exceptionally well in their examinations.Since students have covered topic particularly meritocracy in Social Studies, they should know better than anyone that the world is getting competitive due to globalisation. The message is;pull up your socks or be left behind in the race.
Many developing countries are eager to challenge Singapore's airhub position.Dubai,in particular,a fast-developing nation, which is constantly under the limelight,is gearing up for further development. If all regional players are now preaparing to brace themselves for greater challenge in the future than why is it that those average students are impervious to this reality;which is,the world would never be the same again. The world would never remain status quo.Instead,it is now becoming more fluid than ever.We must buck up or else we would lose out.
